At Cornell, employees are encouraged and invited to become a candidate for the Employee Assembly, the official voice of the university's non-faculty staff. Members of the EA bring their experience, creativity and ideas directly to the president and senior administration.

Each spring, staff vote to elect members to the thirty-five member Employee Assembly to represent the colleges, divisions, units, and identity-based campus communities for staggered three-year terms. Additionally, there are opportunities for staff to be appointed to the all-constituent University Assembly each spring; and every four years, the staff community directly elects a full voting member to the Board of Trustees.
