My top three priorities for the Board of Trustees to address:

1. Stand up for our graduate students: With the attack on higher education by the Trump administration and rising costs, Cornell is deciding right now who will take the brunt of the cuts. Graduate students must be properly represented during that process. I will be a voice in the room against cuts to our graduate and professional programs. I come from the world of legislative advocacy, and I will use that experience to fight for our graduate communities.

2. Invest in our graduate students: Fewer than 30% of graduate students receive financial support from their families, as compared to over 60% of those seeking a bachelor's degree. Over 70% of our graduate and professional students are doing this on their own. The university should direct resources to 100% subsidize the TCAT bus system, removing even a small financial burden for students.

3. Protect access to funding: Due to federal changes in the loan system, many students can no longer borrow what their programs cost. The university should build an infrastructure for students to borrow directly from the school at better rates.

How I will use my position on the Board of Trustees to improve Cornell:

I have experience serving on boards. I sit on the board of Planned Parenthood Hudson Peconic Action Fund. I also sat on the board of my synagogue for five years. Previously, I served as the Director of Development and Advocacy for a non-profit, where I gained experience dealing with budgets and pushing for funding. I will use my voice to do just that on the Board of Trustees.

Advocacy has been a core piece of my career. As the Director of Development and Advocacy for a non-profit, I spent time in Albany advocating for legislation I believed in to help New York's most vulnerable communities. At New Hour, I helped to secure funding for women and children impacted by incarceration. On the board of Planned Parenthood I helped to direct funding to where it was most critically needed. I will bring all of these experiences to the Board of Trustees.

My special interests:

This semester I'm working with the Cornell Farmworker Legal Assistance Clinic, providing legal support to farmworkers on immigration, employment, and other matters.

On a personal note, I was a theater kid! Today, I still enjoy going to shows, and I also enjoy indoor rock climbing.

I believe that Cornell needs to focus on building the best, most welcoming school possible. I strongly believe that continuing to invest in our graduate and professional students, who will go out in the world as some of the top members of their fields, is the only way forward. I do not have a hard time speaking out when I see something wrong, and if I am lucky enough to be elected to the Board of Trustees, I will actively use my voice and not back down to secure a better experience for graduate students.
