    Minutes of the November 26, 2024 Meeting

    1. Call to Order
      1. M. Benda called the meeting to order at
        1. Members Present: D. Bateman, M. Benda, J. Butcher, E. Crawley, Z. deRham, E. DeRosa, E. Gainor, A. Haenlin-Mott, O. Karim, S. Matan, S. Modadugula, W. Treat, A. Vinson
        2. Members Absent: N. Brennan, D. Dinner, A. Garcia-Ortiz, N. Maggard, S. Resue, C. Tarala
        3. Also Present: M. Kotlikoff, J. Malina, C. McLinn, R. Platt, J. Withers
    2. Land Acknowledgement of the Gayogo̱ho꞉nǫ (Cayuga Nation)
      1. M. Benda stated the UA’s acknowledgment of the Cayuga Nation.
    3. Approval of the Minutes from the November 12th, 2024 meeting.
      1. D. Bateman motioned to approve the minutes from the November 12th, 2024 meeting.
        1. O. Karim seconded the motion.
        2. The motion passed with unanimous consent.
    4. Business of the Day
      1. Presentation from Interim President Mike Kotlikoff
        1. M. Kotlikoff provided a presentation to the Assembly on the state of and plans for the university and answered questions from its members.
    5. Committee Reports
      1. Executive Committee
        1. M. Benda stated that Marla Love and Julie Edwards would hopefully attend the Assembly meeting in January. She also stated that the committee is working to get the Cornell Department of Transportation to attend a future meeting.
      2. Campus Codes Committee
        1. J. Butcher stated that the committee met last week, at which they discussed developing a systematic framework for collecting feedback on the policy with the Dean of Faculty and two representatives from the Expressive Activity Committee.
      3. Campus Welfare Committee
        1. Nothing to report
      4. Campus Committee on Infrastructure, Technology, and the Environment
        1. Nothing to report
    6. Assembly Reports
      1. Student Assembly
        1. Z. deRham stated that the Student Assembly passed a resolution to call for mental health days when serious events occur on campus that impact the undergraduate student body. She also stated that the assembly finished their elections and are anticipating new freshmen and transfer representatives.
      2. Graduate and Professional Student Assembly
        1. A. LaGressa stated that Dean Barry visited the GPSA’s last meeting to discuss the Expressive Activity policy. She also stated that the Assembly is considering a resolution on providing feedback on the Expressive Activity policy and that they passed a resolution advocating for the reversal of a temporary suspension of a graduate student.
      3. Employee Assembly
        1. E. Crawley stated that the Cornell Committee on Expressive Activity visited the EA’s last meeting and that they discussed committee work on supporting children who have lost their parents. She also stated that the Assembly will host a coffee event for constituents to meet their EA representative on December 5th.
      4. Faculty Senate
        1. E. DeRosa stated that the Faculty Senate’s next meeting will be the second week of December and that they will reconsider the resolution that calls to condemn Joel Malina’s comments and address academic freedom. She also stated that they will be considering a resolution on the transparency of the tenure track.
    7. Liaison Reports
      1. Campus Planning Committee
        1. A. Haenlin-Mott stated that the committee met on November 19th and are looking at eagle flight barn location selection, planning along the Tower Road area, updating Rice Hall, and the Meinig Field House construction.
      2. Coalition on Sexual Violence Prevention
        1. E. Gainor stated that she will follow up with the leadership of the coalition given President Kotlikoff’s response to recent campus events.
      3. Student Health Benefits Advisory Committee
        1. W. Treat stated that the committee discussed adding wisdom teeth extraction to their health plan.
      4. Sustainable Cornell Council’s Carbon Neutral Campus Steering Committee
        1. Nothing to report
      5. Sustainable Cornell Council’s Education & Engagement Steering Committee
        1. Nothing to report
      6. Sustainable Cornell Council’s Campus Operations Steering Committee
        1. Nothing to report
    8. Adjournment
      1. W. Treat motioned to adjourn the meeting.
        1. E. Crawley seconded the motion.
        2. The motion passed with unanimous consent.
