Get Involved

students walk across campus in early spring

Faculty, staff members, undergraduate students and graduate and professional students at Cornell all have a voice in university concerns through two formal channels:

  • The Assemblies, including the Student Assembly, Graduate and Professional Student Assembly, Employee Assembly, University Assembly and the Faculty Senate
  • Constituent-Elected Trustees, or campus representatives elected to serve each constituency as full voting members of the Cornell University Board of Trustees

One of the best ways to start getting involved in shared governance is to attend a meeting or public forum. Community members can also participate by running for election, raising or commenting on an issue, joining a committee, or learning more about how shared governance at Cornell works. This includes Cornell's University Hearing and Review Panel (UHRP), the panel of students, staff and faculty who assist in the disciplinary process and help uphold the Campus Code of Conduct.

If you'd like to participate and just aren't sure how, reach out to OA—we'd be happy to connect with you!
