Dear Greg,
I am pleased to receive EA resolution #1 Adopting Mission and Vision Statements for the Employee Assembly and the attendant Position and Branding document.
I am happy to accept this resolution and am encouraged by the Employee Assembly’s efforts to advance a more prominent role to serve the university’s nonfaculty workforce. I appreciate the care with which the mission and vision statements were developed. I am especially pleased to see that your brand is identified with a “persistent affinity with staff”. I appreciate and respect the EA’s interest in developing an identity distinct from the university, this independence is critical to the shared governance process. At the same time, the EA does sit within the university and its brand should coexist with that of the broader university. For that reason, I ask that you work collaboratively with University Communications as you develop your position and brand.
Thank you again for your continuing efforts to support the Cornell workforce.
Regards,
David
