    It is with pleasure that I convey for your consideration, EA Resolution I:  "In Support of the Staff Community at the Inauguration of Cornell’s 13th President". I sponsored this resolution with Greg Mezey, as Chair and Executive Vice Chair of the Employee Assembly, on behalf of the Executive Committee of the EA. The resolution was passed by the Assembly at our meeting on Aug 19.
     
    This resolution formally requests your reconsideration of the decision to not cancel classes on Friday, September 18th during the time of the Inauguration. With classes in session and the university fully operational, many staff are excluded from attending the events of this historic and important occasion. This resolution further requests an opportunity for members of the broad staff community to engage with you directly during the events of the Inauguration, similar to the scheduled faculty reception.
     
    Lastly, this resolution requests a communication from you be shared with Deans, Directors and Department Heads, encouraging staff to attend the events of this milestone occasion as members of the campus community, not merely as volunteers. This pivotal point in our history is one that should be celebrated equally by all members of the Cornell community.
