    Dear Ulysses,

Thank you for providing information on the Employee Assembly’s plans to advance diversity through its Toward New Destinations Initiatives for 2016-2017 (Resolution #1).

Thank you also for bringing to my attention Resolution #4, which urges Cornell University to remove the conviction question from its job applications. As you know, the Division of Human Resources made this change in July.

I also acknowledge Resolution #3, which outlines the Employee Assembly’s position in relation to the Union of White Students. I appreciate the Employee Assembly’s clear articulation that they are not associated with this group. I also applaud your decision to use this opportunity to support and promote discussion and training on diversity, privilege, and their impacts on people of color. I am pleased to know that you will demonstrate your commitment by providing training to members of the Employee Assembly and by partnering with other assemblies and the university administration to continue to advance conversations on campus that increase our collective understanding and commitment to diversity and inclusion.

Thank you again for your commitment to the employees of Cornell University.

    Sincerely,

    Hunter Rawlings
