    Dear Jordan,

Thank you for sending Student Assembly Resolution 22: Amendments to Appendix B for Collegiate Readership Changes for my review.

I am returning this resolution for reconsideration. If the intent is to have the Collegiate Readership Program become a registered student organization, then I do not believe it is necessary to specify the advisor of this group in Appendix B of the Student Assembly Charter (as noted in lines 37-38 of the resolution). Since the Charter does not designate the advisor of any other byline funded organization, it would not be appropriate to name the Director of the Office of the Assemblies in Appendix B. The Charter is explicit in that all byline funded student organizations must “have a Cornell-employed advisor with oversight of its account” (Appendix A.3.B.iv), so adding language indicating the Collegiate Readership Program will register as a university organization negates the need to name a specific advisor. To be clear, appointments of advisors for university organizations are at the discretion of the administration.

With the removal of lines 37-38, and clarifying the Collegiate Readership Program will be registered as a university organization, I do not have any other concerns with this resolution.

    Sincerely,

    Hunter Rawlings
