    Dear President Skorton,

I would like to convey Resolution 36: Divestment from Coal: Toward a Sustainable Endowment to you. It was sponsored by Arts and Sciences Representative Emma Johnston, Alex Ilich, and Cole Norgaarden.

I connected the sponsors of this resolution with AJ Edwards prior to it passing. As such, we believe that all of the information in the resolution is factual. Because Cornell already has no direct holdings in coal, and it does not seem likely that this will change in the near future, this resolution states that we should make a commitment to continue this trend, as well as publicize this to the community within and outside of Cornell. This is a step toward financial transparency, and toward keeping Cornell's reputation of sustainability. As you might remember, Stanford received a great deal of press (even in the NY Times) due to its divestment from coal.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

    Best,
    Sarah
