    Dear President Skorton,

I would like to convey Resolution 42: February Break Services to you. This resolution was sponsored by several representatives, including Yamini Bhandari, Mark Lapointe, Justin Selig, Erinn Liu and Juliana Batista.

This resolution was inspired by the lack of services that were available to students who were unable to leave campus during the February break of 2014 (the first time this break was included in our calendar). The hours of dining halls, libraries, and fitness centers were extremely reduced, essentially depriving students who remained on campus from the true break they deserved. This recommendation called for the libraries, fitness centers, and dining halls to keep statistics of student traffic so that resources can be better allocated in winter of 2016. It also called for extended library hours. Lastly, it called for the Communication Committee to compile and disseminate a pamphlet with relevant information and schedules for February break.

Even though break has passed, we wanted to convey this resolution to you so that future administrations can continue to encourage that as many services as possible remain open over short breaks, so as many students can enjoy their breaks as possible. We found that the pamphlet was well received, and hope to continue that in future years.

Thanks for your time and consideration.

    Best,
    Sarah
