Summary / Notes:
Dear President Pollack, I would like to convey the Student Assembly’s 42nd resolution of the year to you. Given the current political climate, Hindu and Muslim students feel marginalized and under-supported, without proper representation on campus. This resolution recommends creating a task force through the Office of the Dean of Students and Cornell United Religious Work to investigate bringing Hindu and Muslim chaplains to provide such representation and to support these communities. Resolution 42 is Creating an Investigation into Hindu and Muslim Chaplaincies on Campus. The Student Assembly recommends that the Dean of Students and CURW create a task force to investigate instituting a Hindu chaplain and a Muslim chaplain on campus. The Student Assembly requests that this task force support Hindu and Muslim students in finding donors and fundraising options in order to hire chaplains. The Student Assembly looks forward to working with the Dean of Students Office, CURW, and the leaders of the Muslim and Hindu communities to continue to work on this initiative. Thank You, Jordan Berger
