Dear Sarah,
I always am pleased to see the Student Assembly’s ongoing support for diversity and inclusion in the student body and on campus. Thank you for sharing your latest recommendations, communicated via Resolution 43: Addressing Cissexism.
You raise important but challenging questions in recommending that the university collects information beyond what is required by the federal government, beginning with our admissions application and extending through all intra-university forms and documents. Currently, our student information systems have no capacity to record such information.
When we have conducted confidential or anonymous surveys we have broadened our voluntary demographic data collection (see the data on inclusion and engagement on the diversity dashboards). I will urge Institutional Research and Planning to continue such data collection and share your resolution with my administrative colleagues who oversee our information systems for their consideration as new systems are designed and implemented.
Regards,
David Skorton
