  This resolution calls for Supporting the Faculty Senates Resolution on a New Natatorium (pool facility) to be included in the ‘Do the Greatest Good’ Campaign, overall increasing the access and equity of one of Cornell’s central facilities of physical recreation.

  Thank you for conveying to me SA Resolution #46: Support of a New Natatorium (Pool) in the 'Do the Greatest Good' Campaign.

   

  As our pools age, we have had increasing maintenance problems. Several years ago, just prior to the pandemic, we invested $1.1 million in them to stabilize and extend their lifespan.

   

  We are aware of this ongoing, and expensive, problem, and Athletics has a long-range space planning exercise underway. We don’t yet have a long-term solution, but we are actively considering how we might address the issue including, potentially, creative funding approaches.
