  Dear President Skorton,
  
  I would like to convey Resolution 48: Reaffirming the Importance of the Performing Arts at Cornell to you. This resolution was sponsored by Juliana Bastista (Executive Vice President of the SA) and Brian Murphy (President of Schwartz Ambassadors).
  
  This resolution calls for the creation of a task force, which would be charged with creating a strategic plan to strengthen the ties between the Cornell community and the Ithaca community in the Collegetown area. Specifically, the task force would partner with the Department of Performing Arts and Schwartz Center for the Performing Arts to revitalize the performing arts culture and economic development of the Collegetown area. Lastly, the resolution calls for the University to reevaluate the academic value of the Department of Performing Arts. Currently, many students feel that this department is not a priority.
  
  I would appreciate it if you could forward this message on to President-elect Garrett, as the resolution calls for. I was able to send this email directly to all others listed in the resolution.
