Dear President Skorton,
I would like to convey Resolution 52: Resolution for SAFC Discretion in Eligibility Appeals to you. This resolution was sponsored by Marc Masson (ILR Representative), Connor Rossner (Appropriations Committee Member), and Marissa Guiang (SAFC Co-Chair).
This resolution calls for changes to the SAFC guidelines. Recently, many student organizations have been appealing their denial of SAFC funding eligibility because of negligence of their advisors. This change would allow for some flexibility in these kinds of circumstances, and other situations that could be characterized as an 'unforeseen circumstances" as long as proper evidence is provided. Ultimately, this resolution aims to make the funding process easier for student organizations, and gives the SAFC additional discretion where it is needed but currently not allowed.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
Best,
Sarah
