Dear Joe,I appreciate this resolution and your concern with the indigenous people of Hawai’i.Cornell is not a partner in the TMT project. The resolution notes that we are a member of the Association of Universities for Research in Astronomy (AURA), an organization of 47 U.S. and three international institutions that offers world-class astronomical research facilities designed to promote astronomical research and educational outreach. AURA’s relationship to TMT is as an associate member and, in that capacity, acts as an outside advisor on the scientific interests of the U.S. astronomical community and provides scientific guidance to the project’s Science Advisory Committee. AURA does not contribute financially to TMT.Thank you again for sharing this resolution.Sincerely,Martha E. PollackMartha E.
