Dear President Rawlings,
I would like to convey Resolution 61: Reconsidering AAP Final Reviews on Slope Day to you.
This resolution is sponsored by Sagar Karnavat, Hanna Reichel, and Matthew Indimine.
This resolution urges the Architecture Department to reconsider the timing of "Final Reviews." For students in Cornell's Architecture program, final reviews are a huge source of stress, and typically require over sixty hours of commitment. Antithetic to the stress from Final Reviews, the end of the Spring Semester has also become synonymous with student celebration, as Slope Day has historically been held on the last day of classes. Due to a calendar change implemented in 2014, Slope Day has been moved to the first day of the Spring Semester's "Study Period." This day coincides with Final Reviews for an overwhelming number of 4th and 5th year Architecture students.
The Student Assembly is recommending that the College of Art, Architecture, and Planning not conduct final reviews on Slope Day, so as to allow these students the opportunity to celebrate the culmination of their studies with their peers.
Thank you for the time and consideration.
Kind Regards,
Juliana
