Dear President Garrett,
I would like to convey Resolution 8: Affirming Learning Style Diversity in Introductory Science Courses to you. This resolution is sponsored by Gabriel Kaufman (Undesignated Representative at Large), Mitchell McBride (VP for Internal Operations), Luke Bushner (Arts & Sciences Representative), and Robert Dunbar (Arts & Sciences Representative. The resolution suggests the removal of the practice of additional study sessions that can impact the grade in the courses anywhere from 2-5% dependent on attendance. The sponsors collected data from 182 students in introductory science courses in order to gather more information on the sentiment of students. The data confirmed the legislations intent. The Student Assembly voted in favor for the resolution based on allowing individuals to learn in the way that suits them and presenting student voice to faculty members who teach the courses in question.
Thank you for the time and consideration.
Kind regards,
Juliana
