Dear Interim President Rawlings,
It is my pleasure to convey to you UA Resolution #1: Updating and Clarifying University Assembly Charter and Bylaws, sponsored by Ranking Member Rina Winarto.
By a vote of 14-0-1, the UA approved amendments to two sections of our Charter, 4.1 and 5.3. Importantly, if approved, this Charter would entail that each constituent assembly receives an equal number of seats on the University Assembly: five. Additionally, it allows the constituent assembly to decide whether it wants to appoint members for one or two years.
We believe that these amendments clarify the requirement for and process of appointment to the University Assembly as well as our election procedure for appointment to the executive committee. We ask for your formal approval of the changes to our Charter accordingly and at your earliest convenience.
Additionally, we approved amendments to our Bylaws regarding membership on our committees by a vote of 13-0-1.
