    Dear Jim,

Thank you for conveying UA Resolution 13 – Recognition of Outstanding Support to the AY 2015 Legislative Session. I accept this resolution in its entirety.

The resolution’s overview of support reflects an impressive record of work carried out by the Assembly that covers an unusually broad set of concerns related to the welfare of the university, our campus community and the world beyond our campus.

I share the Assembly’s gratitude for the exceptional contributions of so many individuals. University staff, students and faculty generously have given their time and expertise by presenting and exploring topics of utmost importance, such as carbon neutrality, Gannett Health Services’ initiatives, campus planning and efforts to enhance our campus climate. The UA members deserve thanks for their commitment to shared governance at Cornell. They have devoted incredible amounts of energy, time and care to Assembly issues and actions. I also recognize the role of University Relations in providing leadership, as well as ongoing, direct support through the Office of the Assemblies.

I will gladly forward this resolution to the appropriate Deans, Vice Presidents and Vice Provosts so that all of the individuals can be acknowledged for their outstanding support of the UA.

Thank you for your thoughtful words about my own commitment to shared governance. During each year of my tenure, I have been honored to witness the dedicated leadership of assembly members and play a part in their efforts. I have every confidence that the assemblies will continue to provide an essential and effective forum for concerns of the many segments of our community.

With great respect, I offer my personal thanks to the University Assembly and to you, Jim, for your thoughtful and effective leadership throughout your tenure as chair.

    Regards,

    David
