Dear President Skorton,
It is with pleasure that I notify you of UA Resolution 14, "Establishment of a Student Insurance Advisory Committee Liaison."
This Resolution was sponsored by Vice Chair Matthew Battaglia and passed by the full University Assembly at our meeting of May 5, 2015.
This Resolution was a direct result of our discussions with the Director of Gannett Health Services earlier this year as well as general community concerns regarding the new non-SHIP-related health fee. The ensuing dialog between the Assembly and the Administration was very productive (thank you to all involved, in particular Dr. Corson-Rikert and VP Susan Murphy) and ultimately resulted in an invitation from the Chair of the Student Insurance Advisory Committee for the Assembly to appoint a liaison. The Assembly welcomes this invitation and Resolution 14 codifies that liaison in our Bylaws.
Since this Resolution is within the scope of the Assembly's current authority, it does not require a formal review and acceptance by you. However, as in all actions of the Assembly, we value your insight and would want to address any questions or concerns you or the administration might have.
On behalf of the Assembly,
Respectfully,
-Jim
