Dear Gabe,
Thank you for submitting UA Resolution 4 – “2016-2017 Cornell University Campus Code of Conduct Update Part 2: Accepting Recommendations from Outdoor Space Working Group.” I am appreciative that you did consider resubmitting this portion of last year’s omnibus resolution, UA R9, so this segment of the Campus Code of Conduct could be considered separately.
Because the proposed language related to planning an outdoor event on campus is verbatim from the policy approved in 2015 by President Elizabeth Garrett in the Minimal Set of Rules related to Outdoor Space, and thus already in place as a university policy, I approve this resolution. Incorporating these updates into the Campus Code of Conduct will serve to clarify the time, place and manner restrictions in place for use of outdoor spaces on campus.
Thanks to you and the University Assembly for adopting and recommending these important changes, and for your ongoing leadership on this set of issues.
Sincerely,
Hunter Rawlings
