Dear President Rawlings,
It is my responsibility to convey to you UA Resolution #5: "In Support of Making Cornell a Sanctuary Campus" which passed the Assembly by a mail vote held between December 13 and December 16 by a vote of 13-2-3.
This resolution pursues previous resolutions sponsored by the Student Assembly and the Graduate and Professional Student Assembly to which you have already responded and it is sponsored by Ranking Member Rina Winarto. It requests that you explicitly make commitments on issues concerning DACA students.
Specifically, our resolution endorses the letter signed by thousands of members of the Cornell community regarding guaranteeing continued funding for DACA students, resisting federal intrusion where possible, and providing counseling and legal services to affected students.
I have personally noted that in your December 22, 2016 letter you discuss how your administration intends to address these three issues and I believe I speak for the Assembly when I say thank you for your continued support for all members of the Cornell community. Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.
Best,
Gabe
