Summary / Notes:
It is my pleasure to inform you that the University Assembly has amended its bylaws consistent with the following two resolutions:
UA R5, "Bylaws Change Clarifying the Charge of the Codes and Judicial Committee" which can be found here: /resolutions/ua-r5-bylaws-change-clarifying-charge-codes-judicial-committee
UR R22, "Bylaws Change Institutionalizing the Staffing Procedure for the University Hearing and Review Boards" which can be found here: /resolutions/ua-r5-bylaws-change-clarifying-charge-codes-judicial-committee
Both of the amendments are sponsored by Matthew Battaglia.
UR R22 is worthy of immediate note, because in each of the past three staffing cycles, the Assembly has experienced difficulty in staffing members to the University Hearing and Review Boards due to miscommunications and differing interpretations of our respective roles with some of the involved parties. This bylaws amendment puts such issues to rest by clearly delineating the process by which the University Assembly will appoint members to the UHRB consistent with the requirements as outlined in the Campus Code of Conduct.
The detail and deliberateness of the amendments demonstrate the Assembly's resounding commitment to ensuring that these issues do not continue and that the staffing process will proceed with fewer impediments in the years to come.
Best,
Gabe
