Dear Brandon,
Thank you for conveying to me UA Resolution #5: Support for Faculty Senate Proposed Resolution: Inclusion and Prioritization of a New Natatorium in the ‘Do the Greatest Good’ Capital Campaign.
We have had increasing maintenance problems with our pools as they age, and we invested $1.1 million in them several years ago (just prior to the pandemic) to stabilize and extend their lifespan.
We are aware of the problem, and it’s an expensive one. Athletics has a long-range space planning exercise underway at present. While we don’t have a long-term solution yet, we are actively considering how we might address it including, potentially, creative funding approaches.
Sincerely,
Martha E. Pollack
