Summary / Notes:
Dear Gabe,
Thank you for transmitting UA Resolution #7, "Charter Change Supporting the Office of the Complainant's Advisor.” After consulting with the Office of the Title IX Coordinator and with the faculty advisor for Office of the Complainant’s Advisor (CA), I cannot support this resolution. The changes proposed in Resolution #7 would not serve to strengthen Cornell’s processes for adjudicating Policy 6.4 complaints.
While you note in lines 42 through 47 of the resolution that the UA consulted with a student in the CA office about this proposal, there seems to have been a miscommunication because neither the Complainant’s Advisors, nor the current or former faculty advisor support the changes proposed in UA #7.
Again, I appreciate the UA’s continued interest in how we as a campus work to best prevent, and when necessary, manage bias, discrimination, and harassment.
Sincerely,
Martha E. Pollack
