It is my solemn duty to convey to you U.A. Resolution 8 "Expressing Condolences and Appreciation for President Elizabeth Garrett."
This resolution was passed unanimously by all members present at our meeting of March 8, 2016 and via email voting for those who were unable to attend.
It expresses our great appreciation for President Garrett's leadership and service to Cornell during her time as President and our deepest condolences at her tragic passing. The resolution also offers the Assembly's assistance during this time of mourning and transition.
In the short time I had the honor of knowing President Garrett, she was an articulate, brilliant, and warmhearted person who truly cared about making Cornell the best university possible, not just for one group, but for all those within our community. Her tremendous leadership and vision will be sorely missed but the monumental impact she has had will be felt for years to come.
