My priorities for the Board of Trustees:

Hi there, Cornell Students! My name is Cameron Hines and I am a proud native of the Lehigh Valley, Pennsylvania running for Student Trustee because I want to see Cornell become the best it can possibly be. As a law school student and the ONLY person running who also went to Cornell for undergrad, I have the temperament, creativity, and knowledge of campus to implement effective ideas. My platform is to improve “The 3 C’s”: Community, Care, and Campus Services.

COMMUNITY: The Board looks for ways to improve camaraderie among students between Cornell’s schools. I hope to increase the grad student activity budget, establish stronger mentorship opportunities for every grad student, and work with University Historian Corey Ryan Earle to roll out a plan so every student is familiar with the university’s rich history & traditions.

CARE: I want to ensure everyone feels safe and included on campus. From increasing the number of lights on West Campus and in Collegetown to make it safer for students to walk at night to making counseling services easier to access, I want every student to feel like the university has got their back.

CAMPUS SERVICES: Student gym memberships and TCAT bus passes should be free for all students who want them, and there should be a campus-wide policy for all faculty & staff members to respond to student emails/calls within 24 hours. Efficiency matters! I'd love to have the chance to serve our students and create a more positive environment for all!

My Experience:

I attended Cornell’s ILR School for undergrad, so I have a very strong foundation regarding how the university works. I have served as president of my dorm, been a member on the university’s Dining Services Committee, and have helped fill out my share of Student Activity Funding forms. I have lived on North Campus, West Campus, and in Collegetown, and have made incredible friendships among faculty members and students in almost every school on Cornell’s campus. Now, as a Law School student, I get the opportunity to study issues like fairness, efficiency, and positive societal change — issues that our Board of Trustees must address on a regular basis.

My Interests:

I come from a close-knit family and really enjoy spending time with them. I also like to travel (both in the U.S. and internationally!), watch a good movie, and recently, trying new menu items at CTB.
