Camron Chappel
Hello! My name is Camron Chappel. I'm a first year Sociology PhD Student and I'm running to be the Social Sciences Representative. In my short time on campus I have already been involved in many social justice causes. For example, this semester I collaborated on GPSA's response to the Expressive Activity Policy, and improved sections that would have disproportionately impacted students of color. I also participated in a Cornell Health working group to improve mental health resources on campus. Additionally, during my undergraduate studies, I served on the student advocacy committee that delivered feedback directly to our university's president on issues related to international students. I also played a role in improving sexual health trainings for Greek Life members, and passed policy placing free menstrual products in university bathrooms. If elected to this position, I aim to continuing pushing resolutions that protect international students. I also plan on expanding the scope of the committee's efforts to better represent both international students and domestic students of historically underrepresented groups.
