Meet the Candidates!
Candidate Registration Requirements
All regular full-time and part-time staff members in non-exempt, exempt, who are employed at the Ithaca, Geneva or Cornell Tech campuses of the university are eligible to run for a seat in this election. Application Process:
Each person who wishes to be a candidate in these elections must complete the following requirements by
5:00 pm (EST) on Tuesday, April 6, 2021:
- Review the open seats listed below and select ONE.
- All seats, including the two new “At-Large” seats, will be elected using the Ranked Choice Vote method of voting tabulation. Each seat will be elected with voters ranking candidates in order of preference; the two new “At-Large” seats will be awarded to the top two candidates in that race. You may also direct questions to assembly@cornell.edu.
- Review the Election Rules and Candidate Eligibility Guidelines below to ensure your eligibility.
- Complete the online registration form including:
- Name as you would like it to appear on the ballot (if different)
- Phone number
- Campus address
- Seat for which you are running
- Current employee category
- Personal Statement (up to 1,250 characters including spaces)
- Photo
- Create an online petition and gather a minimum of 25 signatures. (petition form instructions)
- Attend a mandatory candidate information session on Thursday, April 8, 2021 (times vary)

- Challenge Hearings - no challenges as campaigning did not take place
- Earliest Results Will Be Announced - no voting took place as all races were uncontested
CANDIDATE ELIGIBILITY
Employees who meet the following criteria are eligible to participate in this election. Candidates must:
- work full-time or part-time in a non-exempt or exempt staff category; and not be a voting member of the University Faculty (as an RTE).
- work at the Ithaca, Geneva or Cornell Tech campus.
- work in the corresponding academic college/school if seeking those seats, in the corresponding staff unit if seeking those seats, or identify as a member of the corresponding affinity if seeking an "at-large" seat.
- plan to remain so for the duration of their respective term.
