My priorities for the Board of Trustees:
As a Nigerian American woman passionate about problem-solving, my unique background is a vital asset to the Cornell University Board of Trustees. I grew up navigating the complexities of different systems, from education to culture and from corporate to non-profits, which has fueled my drive to create inclusive, innovative environments where people can thrive. This shapes my vision for Cornell's future. It is critical to ensure Cornell remains financially accessible for students from diverse socio-economic backgrounds. By expanding financial aid and reducing student loan burdens, we can uphold Cornell's commitment to inclusion. Students' pressures require more robust support systems. I will prioritize enhancing mental health resources to ensure students have access to culturally competent counselors and peer support initiatives. As someone who has thrived in interdisciplinary spaces, I know the value of forward-thinking educational models. The Board must advocate for modern learning methods, such as expanding online resources and employing innovative, tech-driven classroom environments that prepare students for the complexities of the global workforce. As a Trustee, I will directly advocate for student voices from all backgrounds; I will foster partnerships between student organizations and the administration to increase transparency around financial decision diversity, champion inclusive mental health resources, and push for cutting-edge educational strategies.
My Experience:
In my senior year at Hunter College, I was elected by the Director of the Business Center and the Director of the Business Studies Minor to present my academic, professional, and personal experience to 75+ members of the Board of Trustees. This secured funding for the Business Studies Certification and the business cooperman center.
