The UA takes up matters which involve the interests or concern the welfare of a substantial segment of the campus community, and is composed of members appointed by the constituent assemblies, with the exception of two of the four undergraduate represntatives who are directly elected during the spring SA elections.

With faculty, staff, undergraduates, and graduate or professional students appointed or elected by each of the shared governance bodies,UA is a stakeholder in major university policy initiatives, and works to establish and maintain open, effective, and efficient channels of communication between and amongst the community and university administration. On behalf of the community, the UA may make amendments to the Campus Code of Conduct, with approval of the president of the university.

Each assembly may appoint four members from their respective constituencies to serve staggered terms as voting members of the Assembly concurrent with two consecutive sessions of the Assembly. Additionally, the presiding officer of each constituent assembly serves as a voting member of the Assembly concurrent with his or her term of office.

The officers of the Assembly are the Chair, the Executive Vice Chair, and the Vice Chair for Operations, who must be of different constituencies. Additionally, a ranking member must be appointed for each constituency not otherwise represented by the officers of the Assembly.

Erika (she/her/hers) is an Assistant Director in the Office of Student Conduct and Community Standards. She is responsible for facilitating investigations in formal processes and mediating agreements in the alternative dispute process for both individual and group cases. Erika is inspired by the Martin Luther King Jr. quote that says, "We are caught in an inescapable web of mutuality tied to a single garment of destiny. Whatever affects one directly, affects all indirectly." Erika has spent her career solely focused on how to enhance the experiences of students. Erika is now exploring the opportunity to devote time to enhancing the experience of faculty, staff, and students.

Ari Broad is a 4th year PhD candidate in the Biochemistry, Molecular, and Cellular Biology (BMCB) graduate program, completing her dissertation in the lab of Chris Fromme in the Weill Institute for Cell and Molecular Biology. In addition to her public service efforts with UA, Ari is also deeply embedded in the university's DEI initiatives; being the Graduate Coordinator for the CURIE and CATALYST Academies through the Diversity Programs in Engineering, as well as being a member of the Molecular Biology and Genetics Diversity Council. Ari looks forward to increasing diversity, inclusion, and equitable access to graduate students through her work in the University Assembly this term.
