Adrian Sampson joined Cornell in 2016 after completing his PhD at the University of Washington in 2015. In the Computer Science department, he teaches classes on programming languages and their implementation. His research on programming abstractions for new kinds of computer hardware earned him the IEEE TCCA Young Computer Architect Award in 2021. His service work within Cornell has focused on expanding opportunities for undergraduate research, which he sees as a critical step toward expanding the inclusiveness and diversity of CS academia. He also recently served as the CS field's director of PhD admissions.

Candidate Statement:

My aim as Senator-at-Large would be to faithfully represent the interests of the whole Cornell faculty. It's a critical moment for central academic values like academic freedom, shared governance, and mutual trust with our student body. I will work to preserve and advance these goals on the faculty's behalf.
