Hi! I’m Irene Gatimi, a Brooks MPA student running to be your next Student Advocacy Chair. Over the past year, I’ve advocated for student interests by pushing for changes to the Expressive Activity Policy, supporting international students’ rights, and backing graduate student workers. But there’s still more work to be done. If elected, I’ll continue to fight for a GPSA that reflects your voice and priorities. I plan to host open, well-advertised town halls and create anonymous feedback channels so students can safely share their concerns. I’ll also work on revising restrictive policies and ensuring essential needs from transit to student org funding are represented in GPSA decisions. Too many students feel disconnected from GPSA. Our procedures are often too complex and inaccessible. I want to help change that. I’m committed to building a transparent, responsive, and inclusive GPSA where every student can see their input reflected in meaningful outcomes. Let’s create a student assembly that listens, takes action, and advocates for us all.
