Claire King
Hello! My name is Claire King, and I am a first-year PhD student in Plant Breeding and Genetics. I truly believe that all Cornell students should have the opportunity to be safe, comfortable, happy, and supported. As my first year of graduate school and previous experience has taught me, there is nothing more important than making your voice heard. I have seen this process already in motion, and I would be honored to work within this process in the future. In my first year at Cornell, I have become involved in the SIPS Community Advocacy group and serve as the SIPS Graduate Student Council DEI Liaison. From these two experiences, I feel ready to stand with and up for my peers. If elected, I will begin my role by advocating for issues related to aspects of equity and security for all students. To begin this process, I would join the Student Advocacy Committee. On SAC, I hope to hear and act on the concerns of students as we navigate these tumultuous times, and ensure equity for all Cornell students. In these times, giving all students the opportunity to have a mechanism to advocate for themselves and one another is vital to progressing forward as a community. I hope to be able to be a part of that movement in the GPSA!
