I am running for CALS Representative because I care deeply about building a community where every student feels heard, supported, and empowered. As a student in CALS, I have seen how diverse perspectives strengthen our college, and I am committed to advocating for all voices across backgrounds, majors, and experiences.

CALS is rooted in purpose-driven science, collaboration, and public engagement. I want to help ensure these values are reflected in student life by improving communication between students and administration, supporting inclusive initiatives, and promoting opportunities that connect our academic work to real-world impact.

My goal is to listen, represent, and act. Whether it’s addressing student concerns, expanding resources, or fostering a stronger sense of belonging, I will work to make CALS a place where everyone can thrive.

Hi you! Yes, you! I would love to have your vote in this election to represent the Student Governance Assembly as the CALS Representative! My name is Lydia Blum, and I am a junior studying Environment & Sustainability. Here's some reasons why I would make a great candidate for this role:

   1. I have already served as CALS Rep for two terms on the assembly and have loved serving you!
   2. As Environmental Committee Chair, I have worked with a variety of dedicated groups and people on climate advocacy and keeping Cornell sustainable through policies such as: Climate renewal vows
   Divesting from Fossil Fuel
   Banning Single-Use Plastics
   3. I also serve as Recruitment Coordinator for CALS Ambassadors and as a peer mentor for incoming E&S students.

My goals for this upcoming term include continuing my work to bring aluminum can recycling to fraternities, working to reduce plastic waste on campus, and tabling more to interact with the broader student body.

Above all, I’m here to represent you! The most important part about serving as CALS Rep is collecting your ideas and turning them into ways we can improve the Cornell community together. As they say, “Birds of a feather stick together”, so vote Lydia and come join the flock. :)
