Hi Cornell,

My name is Jai, and I currently serve as a Freshman Representative on the Student Assembly.

Over the past year, I’ve worked directly with administrators and student leaders to turn feedback into action. I’ve seen how much gets lost between what students say and what actually happens.

I’m running for Representative At-Large to fix that gap.

Here’s exactly what I will deliver:

   1. Free TCAT for all undergraduates, not just freshmen. Transportation is a basic need, not a privilege. Cornell has the resources. It’s time we use them for students.
   2. A centralized, live maintenance tracker for every dorm so students can see what’s broken, what’s being fixed, and when it will be done. No more guessing, no more waiting in the dark. I’ve already started this work through Resolution 77.
   3. Dining reform that actually reflects demand. A system where students vote to change menus as well as more late- night options across campus.
   4. A required response system from the Assembly so when students submit concerns they get clear updates instead of silence.

I’ve already learned how to navigate the Student Assembly. I will use that experience to make things work better for everyone.

Moving Cornell forward is in our hands. Vote Jai.

Class of 2029

I’m Myshay Causey, running for Representative At-Large from the Brooks School of public policy, with a specific interest in Education Policy! In the past I’ve represented thousands of students on the board of Compton Unified School District. Prior to that I successfully advocated for Home-Ec classes in the ICEF school district.

My platform focuses on:
    - Not just improving awareness of mental health resources, but pushing students to actually sign up while targeting the time constraints to participation.

    - Targeting what inhibits Cornell students from handling the new college workload, independence, and sleep deprivation.

    - Continuing to vote in the best interests of the ENTIRE student body, especially to protect the rights of those in the minority. This includes being a respectful space for students, even those that I disagree with, to voice concerns.

    - MOST IMPORTANTLY, creating actionable steps with admin to put policies in place after the student assembly passes bills.

As Representative At-Large I promise to be consistently engaged with my community and its concerns! Voting Myshay Causey means voting for someone with both the experience and audacity to stand up for you!

Hello everyone! My name is Tyler Japal, and I’m running to be your Representative At-Large on the Cornell Student Assembly.

As a student studying Government, I care deeply about your experience on campus and how our community supports every student. Through my work as a Residential Advisor and internships in both the U.S. House and Senate, I’ve learned that leadership starts with listening, asking thoughtful questions, and following through on what matters most to the people you represent.

Whether responding to constituents, mentoring students, or organizing projects as an Eagle Scout, I lead and advocate with integrity, accountability, and a genuine commitment to service.

I’m running to make sure your voice is heard, and actually reflected, in the decisions that shape life at Cornell. My goal is to strengthen the connection between students and campus leadership, increase transparency, and create more opportunities for you to engage in meaningful ways.

Hi, I’m Ellie Porter, and I am one of your Freshman Reps on Assembly! I would be honored to be one of your Representatives at Large.

Frequent tabling and outreach have allowed me to recognize your concerns and address them:

Printing costs- I passed a resolution that will make printing free through limiting the amount of your allocation that any single class may use. Transparency- I rewrote bylaws so that every member of Assembly must host monthly outreach. Health- I have been in contact with Cornell Health about relocating embedded counselors to RPCC and establishing transportation from remote locations on campus to Cornell Health. Additionally, I have worked on addressing winter maintenance on campus, improving allergy meal accessibility, and establishing Housing and Residential Life maintenance newsletters.

I will work to establish a service between Cornell and a local repair company to streamline tech repairs, improve Assembly’s communication and collaboration with clubs and HRL, and most importantly, champion policies that protect students’ educational and political rights.

I have loved my time in Assembly, and I would appreciate the opportunity to serve you again! Follow @cuwporter
