Resolution: SA R15: In Support of the Trans and Gender Non-Conforming Community at Cornell
Date | 01/18/2019 |

Action | Acknowledged by the President |
Notes | Dear Varun, As Vice Presidents Mary Opperman and Ryan Lombardi expressed in a statement in early November, Cornell remains committed to the protections we have in place for transgender members of our community. As you may already know, on January 15, the state legislature approved the GENDA legislation, and Governor Cuomo is expected to sign it into law. Additionally, our office in Albany encourages and is always available to assist students in their efforts to shape public policy, including by explaining how to effect public policy change and directing them to the appropriate policymaker(s). Accordingly, I encourage interested students to reach out to our Office of State Relations for a consultation on future matters similar to this. With respect to your recommendation in lines 40-42, if there is specific Title IX guidance you believe the Cornell community is missing, I encourage you to reach out directly to Chantelle Cleary, university Title IX coordinator, to discuss your concerns. Thank you for your support of all members of our community. Sincerely,
Martha E. Pollack President, Cornell University 300 Day Hall Ithaca, NY 14853 Tel: 607-255-5201 |
