Dear Interim President Rawlings,
I would like to formally convey to you EA Resolution 6: LGBTQ Inclusion in Campus Records. The resolution was sponsored by Ulysses Smith, LGBTQ+ representative.
This resolution calls for the University to fully implement previously approved resolutions and use employees’ preferred name in all inward-facing internal systems that do not have an explicit business purpose for using an employees’ legal name. The resolution also recommends that the University accept the recommendations put forth by the Office of the University Registrar’s preferred name working group.
This is part of an ongoing effort to ensure that LGBTQ individuals, particularly trans people who are transitioning or have transitioned, are not outed by the university. This furthers our commitment to creating an inclusive campus environment for all.
The resolution was passed on December 7, 2016 by a vote of 14-0-0.
Take care,
Ulysses
