Abstract:
Cornell University’s delayed response to the winter storm that hit Ithaca and the surrounding region on February 6-7, 2020 demonstrated extreme disregard for the safety of its staff, students, and faculty. Due to the late closure of the campus, Cornell employees and students—many of whom rely on mass transit—were stranded on campus or on the road in dangerous conditions. The most vulnerable members of our community, in particular, were adversely affected, including those with accessibility issues, and staff who could not afford to miss work or who did not have the opportunity to work remotely.
