SA R18 (2024-2025): Amending the Student Assembly Code of Ethics

Returned by the President

  • Resolution:
  • Day:
    April 16, 2025
  • Action:
    Returned by the President
  • Summary / Notes:

    Dear Zora,

Thank you for conveying SA R18: Amending the Student Assembly Code of Ethics. I appreciate the SA’s work on amending the Code of Ethics, but I’m returning the Resolution to the Assembly for revision in consultation with Dean Love to ensure that the language does not assume authority that has been assigned to the Assembly or the student body via the SA’s Charter and Bylaws and that reporting statutes are bound to term timelines to ensure that the Office is adjudicating on violations by members in the current term year.

I also ask that the amendments make clear that the Office of Ethics only has jurisdiction over complaints about the conduct of members of the Student Assembly and/or students on the University Assembly that are directly related to the person’s actions or status as a member of the SA or UA.

Finally, I ask that for clarity the office be named the Student Assembly Office of Ethics.

    Sincerely,

    Michael Kotlikoff
