Student Assembly - Resolution 23 (2016-2017)

Declaring Cornell University a Sanctuary Campus

  • Term:
    2016-2017
  • Assembly:
  • Status: Deferred by the President
  • Abstract: This resolution calls for Cornell administration to declare Cornell University a “Sanctuary Campus” in the wake of claims made by U.S. President-elect Donald Trump and his advisers concerning potential immigration policy. It also calls on the administration to affirm its commitment to the most vulnerable members of our community. As a sanctuary campus, Cornell would declare its intent to not cooperate with US Immigration and Customs Enforcement efforts to locate members of the Cornell community and commit to guaranteeing funding for DACA students.
