  Dear Zora, 

    

  Thank you for conveying SA R27: Preventing an Extinction and sharing with me the Assembly’s concern for PRI. Over the past few years, Cornell has offered support as PRI’s fundraising and business plans faced setbacks. 

    

  I met with the museum’s leadership to explore options. These included discussions with the Deans of Engineering and CALS to determine the degree of academic alignment with the colleges’ programs, and their assessment of the priority of these programs, given the ongoing need for financial support of PRI. Unfortunately, PRI’s accrued deficit and the ongoing support that would be required place this program at a much lower priority than other college academic programs and needs.
