Whereas, the Assembly relies on standing committees and liaisons to carry out essential functions of shared governance and student representation on campus,
Whereas, committees and liaisons often face challenges maintaining consistent progress throughout the semester without regular accountability checks,
Whereas, establishing predetermined reporting dates at the start of each semester would provide structure and ensure all committees remain active in pursuing their goals,
Whereas, transparent reporting can improve communication between committees, the Executive Board, and the general Assembly,
Whereas, scheduled reporting dates allow for the proactive intervention rather than reactive problem-solving when committees encounter roadblocks,
Be it therefore resolved, the Assembly shall establish three mandatory progress reporting dates during each semester, designated by the Assembly majority vote during the first two meetings of each semester or by majority vote of the Executive Board,
Be it further resolved, that all committee chairs and liaisons shall prepare and deliver progress reports to the Assembly at each of the three designated reporting dates, including accomplishment details since the previous report, current projects or initiatives, obstacles encountered, areas where support is needed, and plans until the next reporting date,
Be it further resolved, that the designated reporting dates shall be strategically spaced throughout the semester, with the first report occurring no later than the fourth week of classes and the third report occurring no later than three weeks before the final meeting of the semester,
Be it further resolved, that the Executive Board shall, from these reports, work to provide necessary resources or assistance to keep projects moving,
Be it further resolved, that failure to submit a progress report without prior notification to the Executive Board may result in a review of the committee chair or liaison's status,
Be it finally resolved, that the following language shall be added to the Student Assembly Bylaws, Section 1: Creation and Maintenance of Committees, as new subsection D (with subsequent subsections renumbered accordingly):
         D. Committee and Liaison Progress Reporting

              3. The designated reporting dates shall be strategically spaced throughout the semester, with the first report occurring no later than the fourth week of classes and the third report occurring no later than three weeks before the final meeting of the semester.
              4. The Executive Board shall from these reports identify committees or liaisons requiring additional support and shall work to provide necessary resources or assistance to keep projects moving.
              5. Failure to submit a progress report without prior notification to the Executive Board may result in a review of the committee chair or liaison's status.
