Dear Zora,
Thank you for conveying Resolution 52: Expanding College Credit Limits. I am returning this resolution to the Assembly for further research and discussion.
The Assembly’s resolution contains inaccuracies around existing credit limits and does not fully reflect current practices across colleges. The question of summer enrollment is one that should be considered separately.
I agree that a discussion of a universal credit limit across colleges has merit, but such a discussion would require a fuller understanding of the current cap landscape, the rationale behind such caps, and the impact on students, faculty, and staff of adjusting credit caps up or down to a universal limit.
Sincerely,
Michael Kotlikoff
