Whereas, disabled students rely on accurate and accessible information to make informed14decisions about their living arrangements;
Whereas, Cornell's Housing & Residential Life website and individual residential CampusGroups webpages currently lack information about the presence or absence of elevators and ramps;
Whereas, the absence of this information forces disabled students to independently research accessibility or discover barriers only after housing assignments are made, creating stress and potential safety risks;
Whereas, while resources exist to assist disabled students with the move-in and move-out process, these resources are not proactively marketed in housing licenses, housing confirmation emails, or websites;
Whereas, the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and Cornell's commitment to accessibility require that disabled students have equal access to information and support;
Be it therefore resolved, the Student Governance Assembly recommends Cornell's Housing & Residential Life and CampusGroups update its websites to clearly indicate which residential buildings have elevator access, ramp access, and other relevant accessibility features on each individual building's page;
Be it further resolved, the Student Governance Assembly recommends that Cornell's Housing & Residential Life proactively offer move-in and move-out support resources to disabled students through housing confirmation emails, housing licenses, and the website;
Be it finally resolved, the Student Governance Assembly recommends that Cornell's Housing & Residential Life work with the Student Disability Services office to ensure that disabled students receive timely and comprehensive information about available accommodations and support services
