    Dear Jordan,

Thank you for conveying Resolution 59: Increasing Sustainability and Comfort in Residential Dormitories. Vice President KyuJung Whang has reviewed this resolution with his colleagues, and the Department of Utilities and Energy Management, with the assistance of the Energy Conservation Controls Team and in partnership with Student and Campus Life Facilities Management, will implement the following improvement measures by August 1, 2016, in residential spaces where it is technologically feasible.

The current system has a typical design heating set point of 68 ?F and a cooling set point of 74 ?F with a +/- 2 ?F user adjust functionality.
    · In the winter months programing changes will allow the occupant to adjust the temperature set point -4 ?F to +2 ?F from the design heating set point of 68 ?F. This will allow the occupant to adjust the heating set point from 64 ?F to 70 ?F.
    · In the summer months programing changes will allow the occupant to adjust the temperature set point -2 ?F to +4 ?F from the design cooling set point of 74 ?F. This will allow the occupant to adjust the cooling set point from 72 ?F to 78 ?F.

I appreciate the Student Assembly’s goals of increasing comfort while reducing energy use and wasteful emissions in the residence halls.

    Yours sincerely,

    Hunter Rawlings
