    Subject: [oa-actions-l] Student Assembly Resolutions 61 - 64

    Dear President Skorton,

I would like to convey four resolutions to you: R. 61, R. 62, R. 63, and R.64. All four of these resolutions are related to changing the SAFC's current operations. They were sponsored by Matthew Stefanko, Vice President for Finance, Jordan Berger, Student Assembly Parliamentarian, and Marissa Guiang and Spencer Nord, Co-Chairs of the SAFC.

The changes that were proposed were to the SAFC Charter and Bylaws, SA Charter, SA Bylaws, Standing Rules, respectively. The proposed changes would not change the relationship between the SA and SAFC: ultimately, the SAFC would remain a Byline Funded organization, subject to the SA's purview. However, over the past few semesters, it has become evident to both SA members and SAFC commissioners that we were not working together as well as we could. Namely, the proposed changes aim to modify the appeals processes that currently exist for SAFC groups. These changes do give some autonomy to the SAFC, but they would also save time during SA meetings and most importantly, make the appeals process less stressful and more efficient for student groups. We are hopeful that these changes will streamline the process for all parties.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

    Best,
    Sarah
