  • Summary / Notes:

    Dear Gabe,

Thank you for transmitting UA Resolution #14, "Review of All Academic Major CIP Codes for Possible Reclassification under a STEM CIP Code." I appreciate the work of the UA to help ensure our degree programs are classified correctly.

As noted in the resolution, recertification of Cornell’s economics program is already underway. The process is expected to be completed by early June. Additionally, at least two graduate programs are already undertaking the process of reviewing and revising CIP codes.

As for other programs at Cornell, I am confident that each college and school will review its academic CIP codes and ensure that degree classifications align with their curricula on a timeline that fits with their own priorities. Should there be a need to change CIP codes to better reflect the curriculum, individual colleges and schools are responsible for putting those changes in place. I leave these processes and decisions in the hands of leaders within the individual colleges and schools.

    Sincerely,

    Martha E. Pollack
