  • Summary / Notes:

    Dear Ava,

Thank you for submitting UA R4: Authority and Role of the University Assembly in the Implementation and Review of Expressive Activity.  The Assemblies, and all members of the Cornell community, were provided opportunities to discuss and help shape the Task Force report and final Expressive Activity Policy. As you know this was a highly interactive process that considered and incorporated many suggestions or concerns from the Cornell community. We appreciate the University Assembly’s involvement and interest in this important effort.

UA R2 states the University Assembly’s intention to conduct an annual review process regarding disciplinary data related to violations of the Expressive Activity Policy and interest in making recommendations for changes to the Expressive Activity Policy.

As you know, university policy and federal law protect student records and constrain the university from releasing individual records. However, the responsible offices at the university will thoughtfully consider data requests and provide summary data where possible. Additionally, I would be happy to consider any future UA resolutions regarding the Expressive Activity Policy.

Sending good wishes to you and the University Assembly for a restorative summer.

     Sincerely,

     Michael Kotlikoff
